The Reluctant Truth

Anton Klima is living the good life – sort of. He’s a dentist with a thriving practice and a beautiful home, but he has a small problem. His crusty 95 year-old father is causing him no end of grief. Janek has Anton on speed dial and caring for his father is starting to take its toll.

In an attempt to get Janek’s dementia under control, Anton gets his father talking about his role in World War II. The stories are beyond anything Anton could ever have imagined. His father was a war hero who saved countless lives, and a man who came home and never spoke of it.

Then in an instant, Anton’s life completely falls apart. Someone has hacked his bank accounts and taken him to the edge of financial ruin. Anton is desperate enough to go after the hacker, and is stunned by what he finds as he unravels the mystery of who hacked him and why.

The Reluctant Truth is set in both present day and the dying throes of World War II. It’s a thriller, but it’s also a coming of age story for a fifty year old man who realizes he never knew his father, and that the people closest to us can be the most wonderful strangers.
